PURI AND BATUK

Puri and Batuk are another dishs which are cooked occasionally in Uttarakhand during any festival or any special event. Made from cereals, Batuk is one of the special dish of Uttarakhand and tastes more better when eaten with Puri which is made of wheat flour.



Ingredients For Puri:

- Wheat flour

- Oil


Recipe Of Puri:

1) Knead the wheat flour.

2) Heat the oil in a cauldron.

3) Make little round pieces of dough and fry it.

Take it out when it is cooked.



Ingredients For Batuk:

- Split chickpeas(chana dal) or black lentil (urad dal)

- Oil

- Spices namely, salt, red chilly powder, turmeric powder, Cumin-coriander powder, green chilly and coriander leaves


Recipe Of Batuk:

1) Dip the black lentil or split chickpeas overnight in a bowl full of water.

2) Next morning, wash it once with clean water and grind it and make a thick paste.

3) Now, add red chilly powder, turmeric powder, cumin-coriander powder, green chilly and coriander leaves into the paste and mix it.

4) Heat oil in a cauldron.

5) Eventually, make little round shapes of the stuff and fry them all.
